Sidepool ("we," "us," "our") is a web application that provides a private prediction market platform for friend groups. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Sidepool is operated by Sidepool LLC, a Michigan limited liability company.

Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information: your name, phone number, and any profile photo you upload. These are required to create an account.
• Pool activity: markets you create, orders you place, positions you hold, stakes, cash-out offers, and settlement records. This is the core data that makes the product work.
• Content you submit: market questions, market suggestions, and any text you enter within the app.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: pages you visit within the app, features you interact with, and timestamps of your activity. This is used to maintain and improve the service.
• Device and browser information: browser type, device type, and screen size. This helps us ensure the app works correctly across devices.
• Authentication data: session tokens and authentication state managed by our infrastructure provider (Supabase).

Information we do NOT collect

• Payment or financial information. Sidepool does not process payments, collect credit card numbers, bank account information, or any financial credentials. All monetary settlements between users happen off-platform (e.g., via Venmo or Cash App).
• Precise location data. We do not request or store your GPS location.
• Contacts or address book data. We do not access your phone's contacts.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Sidepool service, including matching orders, tracking positions, calculating settlements, and displaying pool activity to members.
• Send you notifications within the app (e.g., order fills, market resolutions, cash-out offers).
• Authenticate your identity and maintain your session.
• Improve and maintain the service.

We do not use your information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating the Sidepool service.

How we share your information

With other pool members

Your name and pool activity (orders, positions, market suggestions) are visible to other members of pools you join. This is fundamental to how the product works — it is a social prediction market among friends. Your phone number is not shared with other members.

With service providers

We use the following third-party services to operate Sidepool:

• Supabase (database, authentication, and real-time infrastructure): stores your account data and all pool activity. Supabase's privacy policy is available at https://supabase.com/privacy.
• Vercel (web hosting): serves the application. Vercel's privacy policy is available at https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers.

Legal requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, or legal process (e.g., a court order or subpoena).

Data retention

We retain your account data and pool activity for as long as your account is active. Resolved pool data (settlements, historical markets) is retained to maintain accurate records for all pool members.

Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app. When you delete your account:

• Your name, phone number, and profile photo are permanently removed.
• Your identity is replaced with "Deleted User" in all historical records (orders, fills, positions, settlements) so that other members' records remain intact.
• Open orders are cancelled and open positions are voided.
• Your authentication credentials are permanently deleted.
• This action cannot be undone.

Data security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls on our database. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children's privacy

Sidepool is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Delete your account and personal information (see Account Deletion above).
• Export your data in a portable format.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Sidepool after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
